Meeting Minutes in a nutshell 20th March

Welcome to our recap of the meeting held on March 20, 2025, for the Mayfield Netball Club. This session focused on important updates, ongoing issues, and strategies for the upcoming season. If you couldn't attend, here’s a detailed overview that captures the essence of our discussions.


Call to Order


President Kim officially began the meeting at 5:17 PM. The main aim was to discuss our progress and plans for the upcoming start of season, ensuring everyone is ready to go.

Open Issues


Order & Registration for Launch


Registration for the launch event on March 29 is confirmed for 9yr old players, fostering team spirit right from the start.


MPIO Decision


Errin Edwards has been appointed as the Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO), and she will undergo appropriate training to fulfill her role effectively. An email for her communication has been created: MPIO@mayfieldnetball.com.au.


Registrations


Our membership has reached over 120 individuals, which Bianca proudly reported. However, we experienced a net loss of 10 members this year, highlighting the need to attract more players. Last year’s membership was 174, making our current total a 5.7% decrease that we aim to reverse.


Discussion on Forming a Men's Team


The potential formation of a men's team was asked of us from NNA. This initiative could foster inclusivity and bring more participants into our community, contributing to the club's growth.


New Business and Decisions


Tech and Admin Updates


Michael reported that he successfully set up email accounts for the club. Additionally, he proposed cleaning the club laptop and possibly adopting a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. This system could improve our organization and streamline our communications.


Best and Fairest Award Implementation


Following the directive from Newcaslte Netball Association (NNA), the Best and Fairest award will now be documented on scoresheets each week. This will spotlight outstanding performances on the oppositions team and encourage players to strive for excellence.


Along side this, will be the introduction of the Blue Vest initiative from NNA as part of their new "Positive Behaviour" Policy which you can find here: https://www.newcastlenetball.com.au/policies


Team Updates


Kim provided updates on each team's status, highlighting:


  • 9 Years: Coached by Grace Edwards and Lily McCauley, showing great promise.

  • 11-2 Division: Coached by but anticipating the need for parent support.

  • 11-3 Division: Coached by Tiff Merrit and Sam Brenton

  • 13-2 Division: Michael and Katie Kopko are coaching

  • 13-3 Division: Coached by Rhiannon and Caitlyn Newman

  • 21s Division: Tash seeks a co-coach in this team.


In the Senior Divisions:

  • Senior 1: Kim is coach; we need a scorer for Saturday games.

  • Senior 2: Still looking for a scorer.

  • Senior 3: Amy Lennox is a coach, but we need scoring assistance.

  • Senior 4: Coached by Leslie, who is seeking supporter help as well

  • Senior 6: Michael is set to coach

  • Senior 7 - Bluejays: Kelsey requires some support too

  • Senior 8: Actively searching for more players and a coach

  • Senior 9 - Firestorm: Managed by Rhiannon until she is ready to take the court


Court Allocations


Members expect an email next week regarding court allocations, a vital element for planning practices and game schedules effectively.


Looking Forward


Our meeting on March 20, 2025, served as a productive platform for the Mayfield Netball Club to evaluate current operations and plan ahead. Each committee member added valuable insights, fueling our passion for the season.


As we approach the launch and welcome new players, it is inspiring to see our community’s dedication. Let’s keep our spirits high as we strive to create an inclusive sporting environment.
